I would have to say that Air Jordan shoes are not only bad for the short term but could eventually have long term impacts on the enviorment not just in America but also in all parts of the world.  There are a number of things that can be done to tackle this epidemic and it starts with recycling.  Nike has to begin recycling old sneakers so that it does not create waste dumps that eventually have bad impacts on our world.  The emissions that are let off by many of these plants in Asia create horrible air quality make it very difficult to have a healthy enviornment.  On a national scale there needs to be clean air iniatives so that the local people in the Asian Pacific have more of a say so over what is being put into the air.  It is no secret that in that part of the world that their is different air quality laws and things that the government should do to protect the people from breathing in all that bad air.  The sneaker industry as a whole needs to step up and use better products to

One of most important things that we must remember in production of any product is the effect that it may have on our planet.  In terms of clothing and in particular shoes we often overlook how bad some of the gases that are produced have on the environment.  The Air Jordan shoe which is most always produced in the Asian Pacific, carries some of the troubling factors that we have researched in this course.  One of the biggest being those of emissions from Carbon Dioxide.  The shoes actually have life cycles that are bad for the planet also.  In most cases shoes are not donated but rather thrown out and have major impacts on the globe.  To make shoes you need large amounts of fuels and chemicals to run the machines that produce the shoes.  "On average it takes about 30 pounds of carbon dioxide to produce one shoe and there are about 15 billion shoes created each year". The item that I chose to speak about is my shoes made by Jordan Brand.  I currently am wearing the Air Jordan retro 1 nicknamed "Black Toe".  The sneakers are made of manufactured leather along most of the shoe with a mesh tongue and rubber sole on the bottom.  The shoes are White at the top with varsity red and black throughout with the shoe with a black outline around the toe area which the shoe gets it nickname from.  The shoes come with interchangeable shoe laces that can be worn with the black laces or with the red laces.  They are considered high tops in today's standards but the original release year of the shoe was 1985 where it was then considered a mid top sneaker.  The shoes are manufactured in China in plants where they do not hold the same environmental laws that they hold in America in terms of pollution.   https://www.sneakerfiles.com/air-jordans/jordan-1/
